It is mostly observed in every 20 children and if not treated, it might be a life-long problem. Since the children cannot utter their complaints, it is diagnosed during the clinical examinations. It also might be inherited from the medical history of the family, so it is recommended to make early examinations for those whose parents have the history of Lazy Eye Syndrome. Starting the treatment before the ages 3-4 is very important.

Symptoms Of Lazy Eye

• Rubbing the eye
• Keeping one eye closed
• Difficulties with the hand-eye coordinated movements
• Difficulties reading the far and headache
• Looking very closely when writing and reading and following the lines with finger
• Congenital cataract is seen very rare. Since it might lead to visual impairment, it is recommended to have examinations at the first months.

If one eye is blurrier than the other one because of high-refractive defect, this eye might complete its development earlier and show laziness. Since there are no significant changes on the eyes, the certain diagnose is difficult. The final form of the lazy eye syndrome is “cross eye” (strabismus).
